This highly successful course will develop your skills, confidence and awareness of all the inter-related technologies in mechanical, electrical, fluid systems and, instrumentation and control to allow you to develop a career within the Windfarm/Turbine industry. The course also develops your practical engineering skills making you potentially work ready. The course also acts as the first year of a modern apprenticeship should you wish to pursue that route.

Content:

Four main wind turbine systems; Study components, functions and operations; Operation and maintenance of wind turbine systems; Carry out basic maintenance activities on electrical equipment systems; Develop practical skills in wiring and testing electrical equipment and circuits; Master Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs); and Explore Health and Safety legislation as practised in the workplace.

Entry Requirements

5 subjects at National 5 including English, Maths and Physics or a technological subject, and preferably Design and Manufacture, or Electrical Engineering and Renewables (Pre-Apprenticeship) (Level 5); or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. Entry subject to interview and aptitude test.
