This course offers an exciting and challenging opportunity to study both the technical and contextual aspects of drawing and painting, in a spacious studio environment. You will produce work in a range of mediums, developing an understanding of how painting operates within a fine art context.

Year 1:
Drawing & Visualisation, Contextual & Critical Studies, Creative Principles & Methods, Core Fine Art Studies.

Year 2:
How Painting Works: The Grammar of Painting & Drawing, Developing a Painting Practice, Contextual & Critical Studies - Fine Art Contexts.

Year 3:
Painting in the Expanded Field: Research & Development, Contextual & Critical Studies - Exploring Critical Themes, Ideas into Practice: Development & Resolution, Contextual & Critical Studies - Research & Enquiry, Professional Skills: Disseminating Practice, International Study.

Year 4:
Towards Professional Practice, Contextual & Critical Studies – Dissertation.

Entry Requirements

2022 entry requirements:
3 Highers at BBC (CCC for widening access entry) including English or another English based subject and Art and Design. Interview and portfolio.
