This course offers you a robust and exciting introduction to the study of fine art and gives you the opportunity to build up a rich and varied portfolio of work. It is ideal for individuals with ambitions towards a creative career. The course will help you develop key practical artistic skills and will help enhance your understanding of contemporary art in general. You will be encouraged to develop your creativity and your awareness of specialist skills and techniques, taking ownership of your own unique creative voice.

Topics include:

Exploratory media handling; Contextual studies; Painting and media techniques; Sketchbook development; Colour; Research and investigation skills; Art and design project; Analytical drawing; Digital media; Figure and life drawing; Painting to a theme; and Expressive activity.

You will also study communication, IT and problem solving.

Entry Requirements

National 5 English and Art and Design. Interview and portfolio.
