The HND 3D Design course is a forward-thinking and innovative course that provides an advanced design education for students with a strong interest in the specialist areas of 3D design practice. Responding to industry-focused design briefs you will gain essential skills and knowledge of the 3D design industry to support advanced progression onto Degree level study or employment in the fields of 3D Design, Interior, spatial, product or exhibition design.

Year 1

Art and Design: Creative Process; Developmental Drawing; Product Design: Illustration
Design Semantics; Interior Design Project: Development and Realisation; Interior Design Project: Research and Concepts; Product Design: Materials and Manufacture; Exhibition Design: Creative Concept; Interior Design: Construction and Details; 3D Design: Graded Unit 1; 3D Design: Model Making; 3D Design: Introduction to Lighting; Art and Design Context; Digital Imaging; and, Art and Design Project.

Year 2

Interior Design: Design Details and Construction Techniques; 3D Design: Digital Modelling; Art and Design Context: Personal Investigation; Interior Design: Concept Project; Interior Design: Finished Project; Interior Design: Scheme Project; Exhibition Planning and Design: Development
Exhibition: Temporary Structures and Events; 3D Design: Portfolio and Presentation; 3D Design: Graded Unit 2; Creative Project for Artists and Designers.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers, or Art and Design Diploma Level 3 (UAL), or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview and successful portfolio.

Progression Routes

Employment as an interior exhibition retail or lighting designer; or entry to a related degree course.
