Fife has a long history of providing training for the furniture industry and we continue to develop the highest standards of skill and craftsmanship for which this course is recognised. Design and manufacture projects are integrated to fully enhance the design and make ethos and the course aims to enable students to develop innovative and created design for furniture related artefacts.
Subjects Include:
Materials, workshop practice, furniture specification; History of furniture; Furniture: machine function and use; Furniture: Graded Unit 1
You will also study from the following optional units:
Developmental drawing; Materials for design; Workshop project; timber techniques; Furniture manufacture; Art and design project; Experimental techniques; Upholstery restoration
1 Higher in Art and Design or a technological subject; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview and portfolio.
