This course allows students to develop their creative skills. It is for those with a keen interest in the arts, and who have some formal qualifications and experience of art and/or design; and also mature students who would like to develop their art skills to go into higher-level courses.

The course covers knowledge and practical skills in subject areas such as drawing, painting, sculpture, media-handling, colour, printmaking, contextual studies, digital media, sketchbook development, life drawing, art and design project, introduction to contemporary art practice and core skills.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5 including English and Art and Design. You are required to bring a portfolio of your work to interview. Practical and written tasks.

Progression Routes

HNC Art Portfolio Production or year 1 of an art-related subject area. Application for degree foundation level course. Employment in creative industries including art services.
