Content

This course is suitable for those with a recognised ability in art and/or design who wish to study a jewellery specialism. It provides you with a strong foundation in the design and manufacture of contemporary jewellery.

You will learn a range of techniques related to jewellery design and will develop workshop skills using a wide range of precious and non-precious materials. You will be introduced to 3D design using 3D software, haptic control, and 3D printing.

You will study: Metal forming; Stone setting; Decorative finishes; Design for jewellers; Casting; Development drawing; Digital media; Non precious materials; Etching; Design project; Enterprise project; Final product project.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5; or Intermediate Certificate: Art and Design Portfolio; or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. Entry subject to interview and portfolio.

Progression Routes

HNC or HND Jewellery or relevant degree course.
