Edinburgh College

Granton Campus

Content

This evening course is designed for beginners with little or no Art and Design experience or adults and school pupils who would like to develop their skills further to produce a portfolio and support with UCAS for successful application to Art College.

You will explore a variety of art and design disciplines, media and techniques within our specialist art and design studios at Granton. This course is suitable for new students and those progressing on from Portfolio Preparation 1. The emphasis will be on drawing and the creative process. You will look at the use of the sketchbook as a tool to help explore and present your own work, both in research and development of ideas and interests. This is a very important element of any successful portfolio. You will also create resolved work which will link to the sketchbook work whilst being able to stand on its own. As an important part of the process, you will investigate various ways that artists have explored and expressed the visual world.

The course will ensure you are well prepared to progress onto study at a higher level at Art College or on one of the full-time courses in the School of Art and Design at Edinburgh College.

Attendance: Every Thursday with online option.
