Whether you're a beginner, novice or have some basic experience, you will learn how to get better, more consistent pictures that you will be proud of. You'll do this by understanding how the camera controls work and how they affect light. You'll learn about types of lighting and how to control light for the best effect. You'll also learn how to edit your images to fine tune them or to apply stunning creative techniques for maximum impact.

You will study a range of photography topics by undertaking practical projects. Some of these will be Group projects and some will be Individual. You will be given briefs and you will also devise your own briefs. The topics include Photographing People, Places, Still Life, Landscape and experimental techniques.

Entry Requirements

3 subjects at National 4 including English, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4. Entry subject to portfolio.

Progression Routes

Upon successful completion you can join Intermediate Certificate: Photography or Intermediate Certificate: Broadcast Media.
