Content

Year 1:
You will be introduced to the theoretical and practical concepts of Design, initially through a series of shared projects, leading to more focused, subject-specific outcomes.

Year 2:
Basic principles, theories, working practices and technical instruction will be covered in set projects and exercises. You will be introduced to fashion design through projects ranging from external collaborations, accessory design, contemporary fashion studies and illustration techniques and will undertake a range of garment-making exercises designed to help you understand design and construction. Drawing is taught throughout the programme.

Year 3:
Through set projects, theory-based electives and self-initiated work, you will refine a personal approach towards design by developing your self-awareness and exploring your ideas through a range of techniques, thereby establishing an individual approach to Fashion. You will continue to work on a range of projects including interdisciplinary and external collaborations. Tailoring techniques will be introduced to develop your construction skills, before designing and realising a capsule collection, expressing your personal direction and design vision.

Year 4:
You will feel confident about your ability to express ideas, opinions and concerns through your practical and theoretical work. Emphasis will be placed on the planning and production of a fashion collection supported by contextual reflection. Your choice of subject matter and working methods will be based on the experience you have gained in preceding years. There will be opportunities to show your final collection on a prestigious catwalk show.
