Scottish Borders Campus
Third Year: Year 3 develops the critical skills interior designers need today, through a balance of design, contextual, and engineering and building science courses. Students are set a number of briefs and projects, each with different aims and challenges. Most of these courses are linked together, allowing students to explore different topics within one over-arching project. Almost all courses incorporate a range of collaborative work with students and peers beyond the interior design discipline.
Fourth Year: Year 4 focuses on the generation and development of a final major project. We expect all students to test and demonstrate all professional skills acquired over the course through one large project. This project is self-elected, meaning students are required to carefully create and implement their own design brief, and then generate an end-to-end interior design project in line with it. This is supported with classes that enable the student to accurately and critically locate, reflect on and develop, their own practice and methodologies.
