This pre-cadetship programme will give you experience of all three areas and allow students who may not have the required entry requirements for a Diploma Cadetship to start their journey.

You will focus on several key subjects including:

Transverse Stability; Nautical Science: An Introduction; Maths for the Maritime Industry; Marine Mechanics: An Introduction.

Additionally, you will also focus on your development, communication, teamwork and employability skills. The course will give you a taste of all three Merchant Navy career streams, giving you a real insight into what each department onboard a ship does.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5 including English, Maths (not Applications of Maths) and a physical science subject. Interview.

Progression Routes

This course has been designed to provide an access route into the Merchant Navy through a fully sponsored HNC/D Cadetship with a renowned shipping company.
