If you're interested in working in forestry and arboriculture, this course provides an introduction to a broad range of relevant topics, balanced with strong practical content.

You'll work on college grounds and public and private forest estates to gain sound practical experience in the subject, and benefit from our well-established links with the industry, which have already helped many students obtain work experience and, in some cases, employment.

You'll learn practical skills like tree felling and planting, fencing and estate work, as well as tractor and chipper operations. You'll also be introduced to technical subjects like forest soils, tree identification, pests and diseases and timber produce.

Content includes: Chainsaw Operations; Tree Identification; Introduction to Forests and Woodlands; Tree Production; Introduction to Forest Harvesting.

Entry Requirements

National 5 in a science subject + 3 subjects at National 4 preferred including English and Maths. Entry subject to interview.
