Horticulture is a rewarding and sustainable career, so if you want to gain skills in horticulture and gardening, this course will help you gain a National Progression Award and an SVQ Level 1 certificate in Horticulture. You’ll learn about plant identification and care, as well as general landscaping skills in our fantastic purpose-built classrooms, workshops and glasshouses, preparing the groundwork for a career in gardening.

Units include: An Introduction to Gardening Skills; An Introduction to Tools and Machinery; An Introduction to Turf Maintenance; Prepare, Create and Maintain a Landscape Area; Hard and Soft Landscaping; Plant Identification; Plant Health and Propagation.

Entry Requirements

Relevant qualifications at SCQF Level 3.

Progression Routes

City and Guilds Diploma in Horticulture or other relevant qualifications at SCQF Level 5.
