This course is for anyone who would like to start a career in land-based industries, in particular Animal Care, Environmental Science/Conservation or Horticulture.

This course is designed to help you gain the knowledge and skills required for working in land-based industries and start a career in the sector.

This course provides you with the foundations of animal care and horticulture and you will have the opportunity to explore careers available in these areas.

On the course you will study subjects such as:

Animal Physiology; First Aid for Small Animals; Causes and Prevention of Disease in Animals; Allotment Gardening; Plant Propagation and Health; Environmental Issues; Career in land-based industries.

There is also a work placement in either Animal Care or Horticulture.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 4 including English, Maths and a science subject (Biology or Environmental Science preferred). Some experience of working with animals an advantage. Interview.
