This course is suitable for applicants who wish to learn about agricultural and gardening machinery, food production, estate maintenance skills, safe working practices and who wish to progress to become work ready.

The course will help students gain an understanding of the countryside and the people who work there. It is a practical course which also has some basic academic units to help students deepen their knowledge. The Essential Skills units help students with numbers, language and other core skills needed for the modern worker.

Progression Routes

Students can progress onto SVQ Landscaping (Horticulture), Pre-Apprentice or Modern Apprentice training or into rural work on farms, horticulture businesses and estates.
