The PDA in Ecological Surveying is designed to provide you with the competencies required in order to enter the field of ecological surveying.
This unique SQA award will teach you ecological theory, identification skills and field surveying methodologies. You'll also become familiar with the latest GIS technology and by the end of the course you'll have the knowledge needed to become an ecological surveyor.
You'll learn the key aspects of ecology and ecosystems, encompassing the abiotic and biotic factors affecting ecosystems and the structure and conservation of biological communities.
You will develop understanding and knowledge of techniques available for surveying and monitoring plant and animal populations and habitats. You'll learn how ecological principles are applied to practical procedures and develop practical skills by carrying out and reporting on an ecological survey.
No formal entry requirements. A background in or prior knowledge of ecological surveying would be beneficial.
