Content

This course allows learners to develop a deeper knowledge and understanding of issues around animal care including: Anatomy, Nutrition, Welfare, Animal Husbandry, Health and Disease, Behaviour and First Aid as well as Ecology. Learners will also develop relevant skills in Academic Research, Communications and Statistics. The course features a large ongoing practical skills development unit.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers preferably including a science subject or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6.

Progression Routes

Many progress to HND Animal Care and some to degree courses including animal science or veterinary nursing. Career prospects include: SSPCA, dog wardens, boarding establishments, veterinary practices, zoos.
