Modern Apprenticeships might be right for you if you prefer to learn from hands-on experience, and would prefer part time rather than full time study. Being able to earn while you learn is another plus point.
The Modern Apprenticeship in Retail is available at the following levels:
This apprenticeship covers aspects of retail such as fashion, technology, food and drink, entertainment and health and beauty. Learn how to create appealing window displays as a visual merchandiser, lead a team to financial success as a store manager, or provide a first-class customer experience as a personal shopper.
Anyone living in Scotland who is over school leaving age can apply. Sometimes employers set an upper age limit, as the Scottish Government doesn’t always fund training for those aged over 24.
You would check this with individual employers.
For the Level 5 there are no formal entry requirements. Level 5 is required before progression to Level 6.
You will achieve the relevant Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ), Diploma or other competency based qualification. In addition, you work towards core skills and complete industry specific training.
This apprenticeship is expected to take between 12 and 24 months.
