Hourly rates for care assistants in Scotland range from around £9.00 to £13.50. With shift allowances you might earn up to around £18.00 an hour.
At present the apprentice rate, for those aged under 19 or aged 19 or over and in the first year of their apprenticeship, is £4.15 an hour (1 April 2020). Some employers pay their apprentices more than the minimum rate.
