Medical representatives work for medical or pharmaceutical companies. They sell new and existing products, prescription and non-prescription drugs, medical appliances and surgical equipment. They sell mainly to hospitals, doctors and pharmacists.

Basic starting salaries for medical representatives range from £20,000 to £25,000 a year. Established representatives earn £35,000 to £55,000 a year or more. In most cases you will also get commission on sales. You may also get performance related pay and other benefits such as health insurance, a car, a laptop computer and a mobile phone.
