Core Units:
Promoting quality of life through dementia skilled practice; Health wellbeing and safeguarding; Mental health issues in a care setting; Care in contemporary society; Lifespan development theoretical approaches; Collaborative working; Leadership starts with me; Core practice;
Graded unit 1.

SVQ units: Promote health, safety and security in the work setting; Promote effective communication; Develop your practice through refection and learning.

Optional units (selected by college): Protection of individuals from possible harm and abuse; mental health issues in a care setting.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers including English; or Foundation Apprenticeship Social Services and Healthcare; or at least 12 SQA National Units at SCQF Level 6. Subject to successful interview, entry test and reference. You should be 18 years old at start of course.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.

Progression Routes

HND Additional Support Needs or a degree in Social Work. Possible degree routes with Open University include Social Work (must be sponsored by an employer), Youth Work, Psychology.
