If you want to work with children and young people, this course will give you a broad understanding of all aspects of child development.

It is an excellent course to allow you to explore the many different specialities and career paths open to you in this sector.

This NC will help you gain entry to Higher Education courses, degrees and teacher training.

You will spend two days a week in a work placement in a nursery or early years class. You’ll get a truly hands-on learning experience, working with professionals to understand the links between theory and practice.

Entry Requirements

2 subjects at National 5 including English or NQ Access to Care (Health and Early Years).

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.

Progression Routes

HNC Childhood Practice or SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 7.
