This course covers many aspects of the caring role with a range of service users. You’ll be introduced to subjects like counselling and human development, as well as learning about health, safety and child protection. The course will give you a great insight into what goes into a role in social care - helping you on your way to employment or further study.

Your caring and professional care skills will be developed by studying subjects such as psychology, mental health, sociology, protection and safeguarding, behaviour and disability.

You'll be supported in your studies by a dedicated guidance tutor.

Entry Requirements

3 subjects at National 5 including English (History or Modern Studies will be accepted) or Access to Social Care (Level 5). Or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.

Progression Routes

NQ Social Care (Level 6) or employment in the care sector.
