This pathway to childhood practice course will help you to develop the skills and knowledge required to prepare you to work in the Early Learning and Childcare sector.

Within the course you will have the opportunity to put your learning into practice, working with children and young people in order to gain the experience required to support your progression onto the HNC Childhood Practice.

This course will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of Early Learning and Childcare. You will learn about child development, legislation and the policies and practice documents that guide practice. You will learn how to plan, implement and evaluate a range of play experiences and develop the skills required to become a reflective practitioner.

By completing this course you will also gain the NPA Social Services (Children and Young People) which can contribute to the underpinning knowledge required to support you in the journey to becoming a support worker in the early years.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5 including English, or NQ Child, Health and Social Care (Level 5), or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5.
