Content

This short and fast paced course is for you if you already have some experience of working with children and young people and/or have a certificated academic qualification at SCQF level 4 or above.

This SCQF Level 5 course combines theory and hypothetical practical experiences for working with children and young people, allowing you to develop an awareness and understanding of all aspects of children’s growth, development and the importance of play, well-being and families.

Subjects Include:
Development and wellbeing of children and young people; Working in early learning and childcare; Contemporary families; Children and young people: rights and protection; Supporting children and young people with additional support needs; Creating outdoor learning opportunities; Play in early learning and childcare.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 4 including English; or Certificate: First Steps to a Career in Childcare; or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4. Interview.

Progression Routes

Advanced Certificate: Health and Social Care (Access to Nursing and all Care HNCs); or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6 or 7
