The course provides a broad-based study of the range of topics related to early education and childcare that will prepare you for the next level of study or employment at support worker or auxiliary level within a childhood practice and childcare setting.

The main purpose of the course is help you understand early education and child development from pre-birth to age 18 and the roles and responsibilities of practitioners, other professionals and parents/carers in contributing to the development of children and young people.

You will gain hands-on experience through a 30-day work placement in a childcare setting. This is a core part of the course that allows you to put your learning into practice. Your placement will be organised for you in discussion with your tutor.
