This course provides an introduction to early learning and childcare values and principles, whilst providing students with an excellent foundation in playwork, childcare and education. It will give students a general introduction to child development and enhance communication, numeracy and problem solving skills.
On completion of this course, students will be aware of issues relating to young children and their families in society today. It is ideal for people returning to education after a break or for people who wish to further their qualifications.
You will study:
Working in Early Learning and Childcare; Play for Children and Young People; Children and Young People: Practice of Play; Children and Young People: Rights and Protection; Development and Wellbeing of Children and Young People; Supporting Children with Additional Support Needs; Maintenance of a Safe Environment for Children; Communication.
3 subjects at National 4 including English, or Step Into Early Learning and Childcare, or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4. Interview.
