This course is designed for a wide range of people working, volunteering or seeking employment in the community sector in a general capacity or those seeking work in a specific area.
This can include adult learning, youth work, community education, voluntary groups and sports groups. In addition, it may be suitable for people requiring professional development, who are already employed in the sector as sessional/unqualified workers and who are seeking a relevant recognised qualification.
The course is particularly suitable for those seeking preparation for and progression to further study. Students will undertake a placement in the statutory or the voluntary sector doing community work, youth work or adult education to give them valuable practical experience.

Values and Principles of Community Learning and Development; Work Experience; Core Skills; Working with Community Groups: an Introduction; Sociological Perspectives; Equality and Diversity; Local Community Investigations; Psychology: Social Behaviour; Health Promotion; Capacity Building; Personal Development: Self in Community; Understanding Committees.
No formal entry requirements. Relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4 or 5 preferred. Interview.
