The social care sector makes up around 1 in 13 jobs in Scotland and has been steadily growing in the past two decades. So, if you’d like a rewarding career in a social care setting, helping people and making a positive difference to their lives, this 18-week course will get you started.
You’ll gain a solid introduction to everything that goes into a caring role and how it can help a broad range of service users - from understanding people’s needs and mental health issues, to safety and communication skills.
During the Access to Social Care course, you'll develop your communication skills and gain an understanding of what it means to support vulnerable people who need help and support.
You’ll learn about psychology, safeguarding, mental health, values and principles and care practice.
You’ll be supported in your studies by a dedicated guidance tutor.
3 subjects at National 4 including English (History or Modern Studies will be accepted). Applications will also be considered from those without formal qualifications but with relevant experience. Applications will be considered by personal statement and a suitable supporting reference.
