This course is an introductory route into counselling as a profession or indeed to enhance valuable skills for work in a care setting. This course is suitable for those who have limited or no previous experience of counselling.

The course is an introduction to the main approaches used in counselling. It does not in any way permit those who have achieved the course to refer to themselves as qualified counsellors.

The course will include:

Counselling Skills; Understanding Mental Health; Understanding Loss and Grief; Counselling Awareness.

As well as Human Development and Social Influences.

Entry Requirements

2 subjects at National 5 or Higher; English and a social science subject preferred. A passion for or experience of working in paid or voluntary work an advantage.
