Content

Working with young children and helping them learn essential skills for life is very rewarding and worthwhile.

The course is for you if you already have some experience of working with children and or certificated academic qualifications at SCQF level 4 or above. It combines theory and practical experience for working in an early years setting, allowing you to develop an awareness and understanding of all aspects of children’s growth, development and the importance of play, from birth to 16 years.

Some of the units you will study include:
Child Development and Health; Children and Young People: Rights and Protection; Children and Young People: The Process of Play; Supporting Children with Additional Support Needs; Mental Health & Wellbeing.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 4 including English, or Certificate: First Steps to a Career in Childcare, or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4. Interview and written task.

Progression Routes

NC Childhood Practice or other relevant qualifications at SCQF Level 6.
