This course is a great introduction the health and social care for anyone considering a career or further study in this area. The course is levelled at SCQF Level 5 and will introduce the student to the skills and knowledge required to be a successful practitioner in health and social care settings.
Applicants will be shortlisted based on a good quality personal statement which is focused on career and/or study within health and social care.
The applicant should possess the personal skills and qualities required to support people using care services such as being an effective communicator, patience, resilience, ability to cope with life’s stresses, kindness and a genuine passion to work with people.
This course looks at the values, qualities and skills required to work in health and social care. The areas you will study will be values and principles, the influences of society and human development.
Your skills will be developed when studying nutrition, well-being and safety in the care setting. Practical skills such as first aid is also included as well as an understanding of mental health and illness.
3 subjects at National 4 including English or another English based subject; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4.
