The SCQF Level 6, NC Early Education and Childcare, the course is designed for those looking for employment at the Support Worker level or further study in Childhood Practice.

The course covers a range of key areas of knowledge and skills required to work with children and young people. Work placement gives an opportunity to develop these skills in practice while gaining invaluable practical experience.

Applicants should have qualifications at SCQF Level 5 or above and/or be progressing from our Childhood Practice Level 5 course or School College Partnership National 5 course.

The NC Early Education and Childcare Group Award allow registration with the Scottish Social Services Council at the Support Worker Level.

Subjects Include:
Play in Early Education and Childcare; Developing an Understanding of Working with Children; Childhood Development and Developmental Theory; Supporting Children’s Rights and Entitlements; Supporting Children’s Behaviour; Services for Children and Young People; Workplace units; Numeracy; Communication.

Entry Requirements

Subjects at National 5 inluding English, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. Interview. Ideally you should have some experience of working with children.
