The award includes a National Course at Higher level: Early Education and Childcare.

Units include Play in Early Education and Childcare, Child Development, Developing an Understanding of Working with Children and Supporting Children's Behaviour.

Work placements are an integral and essential part of the course. Work placement is necessary to complete the full award.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5 including English, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.

Progression Routes

Relevant HNC, or careers such as Nursery Assistant, Playgroup Assistant or Classroom Assistant.
