The NPA Playwork and Childcare supports learners to gain knowledge and understanding that will help them to contribute to the play and development of children and young people. Learners will have the opportunity to develop their personal qualities, knowledge, and skills in play, playwork and childcare, communication and development wellbeing, and health and safety surrounding the topic.

The course comprises of units, which cover topics such as play, child development, children’s rights, working with children and young people. The learner will be placed within a playwork or childcare setting one day per week. This is a beneficial opportunity as it enables learners to apply their theory to practice.

Your place on the course will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure Scotland check in the form of a PVG.



Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5 including English at C and D. Experience.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.

You must be 16 by 31st October due to health and safety legislation.
