If you have recent experience of working in a care setting (minimum 120 hours) or are working in care either voluntary or paid, and would like to make a difference to people’s lives and wish a national qualification, then this is the course for you. This course is a combination of taught units and workplace experience, and as such it is very much “hands on”. (Please note recent experience is desirable but not essential to gain entry to this course).
The course includes:
Care in Contemporary Society; Health, Wellbeing and Safeguarding; Lifespan Development: Theoretical Approaches; Leadership Starts with Me; Also includes the Graded Unit.
Placement:
You will be given the opportunity 2 days a week in a placement, agreed by the college staff, to expand your practical experience, developing knowledge and skills, and clearly identifying how you put these into practice.
2 Highers including English; or Foundation Apprenticeship Social Services and Healthcare. Relevant experience is preferred but not essential.
You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
