This award will equip you with an understanding of the values and principles of ELC and allow you to integrate these values with the essential skills and knowledge to support the learning and development of children and young people.
Over the course of the academic year you will study a wide variety of topics including:
Pedagogy and how to develop your teaching practices, How to support children with Additional Support Needs, The impact that trauma can have on children, Theories relating to child development, International approaches to learning, The Rights of Children and Young People, and Reflective Practice.
You will also gain three SVQ units during your studies. SVQ units relate mainly to your practical experience , You will also be observed in placement to gain this element of your qualification.
2 Highers; or Foundation Apprenticeship in Social Services (Children and Young People); or NC Childhood Practice (Level 6); or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview.
