A career in childhood practice can be very rewarding, and as there’s currently an increased
demand for childcare professionals, it’s an exciting time to get involved. NC Childhood Practice provides a solid foundation that supports anyone interested in working in an Early Learning and Childcare environment.

You’ll study the theory around child development, the rights of a child and the sociology of childhood, as well as doing a practical training placement which will give you valuable work experience in a childcare setting.

Subjects include: Planning for practice; Planning for practice: Workplace experience; Providing an inclusive curriculum in a childhood practice setting; Protecting and promoting the rights of the child; Sociology of childhood; Child development; Child development: Theory; Services for children and young people.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5 including English, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5.
