The HNC Childhood Practice: Next Gen is a refreshed and future-focused qualification designed to prepare you for a rewarding career as a Child Development Officer. This nationally recognised qualification combines academic theory with essential hands-on experience, giving you the confidence and professional grounding to work effectively in the Early Learning and Childcare sector.

Core areas include:

Pedagogy in Practice; Health, Safeguarding, Welfare and Rights; Developing Reflective Practice; Additional Support Needs: Positive Supporting Strategies; Outdoor Learning and Sustainability.

You’ll also complete three SVQ workplace units:

Promote Effective Communication; Promote Health, Safety and Security; Develop Your Practice Through Reflection.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers including English; or NC Childhood Practice (Level 6); or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview. Written Test.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
