The HNC in Childhood Practice will assist you to become a qualified Early Learning and Childcare Practitioner.

Studying this HNC will allow you to develop knowledge and understanding of the principles and values underpinning the care and education of young children.

The mandatory units you will study are: Care in Contemporary Society; Health Wellbeing and Safeguarding; Leadership starts with me; Lifespan Development: Theoretical Approaches; Graded Unit 1; Support for Play Learning and Development; 3 SVQ unit workplace units.

Subjects also include three optional units.
The optional units will be: - Promoting Language; Literacy and Numeracy; Supporting Children and Young people’s Behaviour; Supporting our Youngest Children 0-3.

Entry Requirements

NC Early Education and Child Care (Level 6); or SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 6; or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview. Written Test.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
