A National Certificated course which provides a broad-based study of theoretical and practical topics related to health and social care. Providing you with the skills and knowledge for a future career working in the care sector or progression onto a higher-level course.

As part of the NC you will look at who needs care, where that is provided and your responsibilities as a care worker in many different care settings.

Content:
Values and Principles; Human Development and Behaviour; Social Influences; Understanding Mental Health and Mental Illness; Caring for People with Dementia; Health, Safety and Protection Issues; The Human Body; First Aid; HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C Infections; Understanding the Needs of the Older Person; Working in Health and Social Care Settings; Communication and Numeracy; Working with Others.

Entry Requirements

3 subjects at National 5 including English; or NC/NQ Care. Entry based on experience, written exercise and interview.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
