Content

A degree in Psychology with Counselling Skills is taught via a selection of compulsory and optional courses to enhance your learning, preparing you for a future career or further study. In each year you will take courses adding up to 120 credits. Depending on the number of compulsory and optional courses offered by your degree, you can also choose other eligible courses which fit your timetable.

Year 1: Introductory Psychology I & II: Concepts and Theory; Introductory Psychology I & II: Methods and Applications.

Year 2: Advanced Psychology A & B: Concepts and Theory; Advanced Psychology A & B: Methods and Applications.

Year 3: Methodology A & B; Psychological Assessment; Perception; Biological Psychology; Social Psychology; Developmental Psychology; Memory and Language.

Year 4: Psychology Thesis; Senior Honours Level 4 Psychology A & B.

Entry Requirements

2025 entry requirements

Standard entry:
4 Highers at BBBB (by end of S5) plus English at National 5. Those with Highers at BBB by end of S5 are encouraged to apply.

Entry to year 2 may be possible with 3 Advanced Highers at ABB including a relevant subject at A.

Widening access entry:
2 Highers at BB (by end of S5). Additional Highers/Advanced Highers in S6.

1 Foundation Apprenticeship is accepted in place of a Higher.
