This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who wants to pursue a career in social care or who hopes to progress to university to study social work.
The course will help you build skills that you can use in a wide range of social services settings. Completing the HNC will also allow you to register with most parts of the SSSC.
You will develop valuable transferable skills, including core skills and meta-skills.
The course includes 60 days of placement experience. You should be prepared to attend College for two days per week and be on placement for two days per week.
Subjects Include:
Approaches to assessment in social services; Health, safeguarding, welfare and rights; Developing reflective practice; Promote effective communication; Promote health, safety and security in the work setting; Develop your practice through reflection and learning; Person-centred approaches; Contribute to the planning process with individuals; Placement experience of 60 days.
2 Highers, preferably including English; or Foundation Apprenticeship Social Services and Healthcare; or Advanced Social Care (Level 6); or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6.
Genuine interest in working with people and good communication skills are essential, references may be required. Ideally you should have some work or volunteering experience within a social care setting.
