This course is perfect if your goal is to work in community, private or public services that support the most vulnerable members of our society to lead a fulfilled and independent life.

You should be ready for a blended learning approach that includes independent study, group work, research activities and presentation skills.

You’ll integrate knowledge, theory and practice to gain employment in a social care role, or to progress to further study at university degree level.

Subjects Include:
Safeguarding and wellbeing of individuals; Social policy; Leadership; Care practice and personalization of practice; Psychology and sociology; The graded unit provides an opportunity to plan, develop, implement and evaluate a plan for the care of an individual supported by the learner over time in their placement setting; A 360-hour placement.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers, preferably including English; or Advanced Social Care (Level 6); or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Genuine interest in working with people and good communication skills are essential, references may be required. Ideally you should have some work or volunteering experience within a social care setting.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
