This course is aimed at those who want to pursue a career in social care, working with a range of different types of people/service users. The course enables students to integrate knowledge, theory and practice in order to effectively pursue employment in a social care role, or to progress to further study at university degree level.
On this course you will explore a number of important topics when it comes to working in social services. You will learn about the protection of individuals from harm and abuse, social policy, substance use and abuse, psychology and sociology. You will cover 4 mandatory SVQ units, and throughout the course you will develop essential skills when it comes to team working in a care setting.
2 Highers including English; (Foundation Apprenticeship may be accepted in place of 1 Higher; or NC Health and Social Care. Genuine interest in working with people and good communication skills are essential, references may be required. Ideally you should have some work or volunteering experience within a social care setting.
