Content

This course is aimed at those who wish to work as an early years support worker who have direct entry requirements or have completed the SCQF Level 5 Childcare & Development (or equivalent course). This course allows you to further develop your knowledge and understanding of the early years and childcare sector.

It includes a mandatory placement opportunity for students who demonstrate the appropriate skills and values. Upon completion, you will be eligible to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) at support worker level.

Course includes:
Child development; Theories of development; Inclusive practice; Planning for practice; Work placement in a relevant childcare setting.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5 at B preferably including English; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. You would require evidence of a relevant work placement (normally 40 hours).

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
