This course aims to provide a qualification for people who are interested in working with children in a variety of childcare settings. The qualification covers the generic knowledge and understanding of working with children combined with skills and qualities to allow you to gain employment in the childcare sector, or to progress to a higher qualification in childcare.
You will study units which include:
Development and Wellbeing of Children and Young People; Rights and Protection of Children; The Process of Play; Core Skills (IT, Numeracy, Communication).
You will also be expected to attend a work placement in a childcare setting.
Subjects at National 4 including English. Interview.
You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
You may progress onto appropriate Level 6 or 7 qualifications from this course.
