This course will prepare you for employment by giving you the essentials skills, knowledge and understanding of current workplace practice, legislations, policies and frameworks required to work within in a childhood practice setting.

Upon completion, candidates are eligible to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) at practitioner level. This course provides a great opportunity to gain a nationally and professionally recognised group award.

Subjects include:
Protection and participation; Contemporary issues for children and families; Promoting language, literacy and numeracy in early education and childcare; Working with those who have additional support needs; How to understand/ support child behaviour; Rights and provision.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers including English; or Foundation Apprenticeship: Social Services Children and Young People or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. You must have a minimum of 60 hours work experience in an early years setting.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
