The programme is seen as a prerequisite to HNC Childhood Practice. The course builds on sound child centred practice approaches to equip students to gain the appropriate skills, qualities and attitude necessary to work in an Early Years setting. The course provides an integrated programme of theory and practice at level 6 and provides the opportunity for you develop skills, knowledge and understanding to enable you to work effectively in certain posts within the sector.
The programme may include the following units: Play in Early Education and Childcare, Play in Practice, Developing an Understanding of Working with Childcare: Workplace Experience, Childcare and Development, Supporting Language Literacy and Numeracy in an Early Years Setting, Supporting Children’s Rights and Entitlements, Communication, Numeracy and Information and Communication Technology. The course content is subject to change.
4 subjects at National 5 at B including English; or NQ Playwork and Childcare; or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. Interview and advice session.
