If you want to pursue a career working with children and young people, this course will develop your understanding, skills, and existing strengths when it comes to education and childcare. This course aims to effectively prepare you for further study or employment.
This course aims to give you an understanding of the responsibilities of working within the Early Years sector and valuable opportunities to develop skills in working with and caring for young learners.
You will learn about the theoretical and underpinning knowledge that drive practices in all early learning and childcare settings. This will include child development and wellbeing and the factors that can influence these outcomes. You will learn about the importance of play in early learning and theoretical play approaches. You will also acquire practical skills of planning, implementing and reviewing quality play experiences for a range of different ages. These play experiences will involve both indoor and outdoor settings.
3 relevant subjects at National 5, or NQ Pathway to Early Learning and Childcare (Level 5), or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. Interview.
You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
Progression onto course such as HNC Childhood Practice or HNC Social Services or employment as a Support Worker in a range of early learning and childcare settings.
