The flexibility in the framework of this HNC makes the award suitable for full and part-time learners wishing to develop or improve their knowledge and skills about early learning and childcare and to seek employment as a practitioner in this field.

The HNC in Childhood Practice is a widely recognised qualification giving sound underpinning knowledge and understanding of how children develop and interact with their world.

This course also includes a minimum 60-day work placement requirement where you will have the opportunity for work experience with local organisations within Dumfries and Galloway. You will undertake 3 Scottish Vocational Qualification units (SVQs) that form part of the overall HNC Award.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers including English or Foundation Apprenticeship in Social Services (Children and Young People); or NC Early Education and Childcare (Level 6) or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. You will attend an informal interview.
