You will learn about the following topics: Care in Contemporary Society, Leadership, Health Wellbeing and Safeguarding of Children, Lifespan Development Theoretical Approaches, Promoting Language, Literacy and Numeracy, Supporting Children’s Behaviour and Children with Additional Support Needs.
3 SVQ work based units including, Promoting Effective Communication, Develop your Practice through self-reflection and learning, Promote Health, Safety and Security in a Work Setting.
This course also includes a minimum 60-day work placement requirement where you will have the opportunity to have work experience with local organisations within Dumfries and Galloway.
2 Highers including English or NC Early Education and Child Care (Level 6) plus 1 Higher. You should have substantial experience in a formal child care setting. You will attend an informal interview.
You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
