This course will provide you with the values, skills and knowledge you need to work effectively in a range of care settings. You will focus on the values that underpin work in social care settings, National Care Standards and the Scottish Social Services Council codes of practice and how it informs your practice. You will develop the skills required to work with a range of service users, preparing for employment in a care setting.
You will study: Care in Contemporary Society; Lifespan Development Theoretical Approaches; Care Practice; Health, Wellbeing and Safeguarding; Understanding Loss and the Process of Grief; Mental Health Issues in a Care Setting.
2 Highers, preferably including English, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview. You require a minimum of 120 hours direct care experience either in a voluntary or paid capacity.
Entry to range of HND or degree programmes in Social Work, Care and Health sector; employment as social care worker or support worker with various groups.
