This course is highly valued by both universities and employers. It will teach you the skills, knowledge and values you’ll need to work effectively in a range of care settings.
You’ll spend 2 days in college and 2 days on placement in a care setting, working with the staff team. Placements cover a whole range of care services across Ayrshire from the local authority, private and voluntary sectors. They can include mental health services, residential care and homelessness projects.
2 relevant Highers including English plus preferably Maths at National 5, or relevant NC course at SCQF Level 6 such as NC Higher Health and Social Care (Level 6). A place on the course is subject to an interview process.
You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
Successful students can progress on to a range of degree programmes or employment in the Social Work, Care and Health sector.
